Isn’t this just his dream?

Picking figs from a large fig tree

Isn’t this whole adventure just his dream? You could think that considering the stats. I was born and raised in Amsterdam. I always claimed I would never leave the city. Guess what? I was also claiming I would never have children. And as always with people who are being strong-headed: go and find out why you are taking such a strong stance, look for what’s behind it. Turns out there’s the call of the wild I could no longer ignore. No more spending hours behind a desk. Time for a different life, time to live our dream. Indeed our dream, because it’s just as much my dream as it is his.

The memory returned of me as a little girl looking for ladybugs in the bushes, pretending I was in the wild. And now it’s going to be the real thing, where the plants demand their place instead of landscaped green zones. Step 1 on becoming an old lady of the herbs has been taken. When you miss me I’ll be talking to my olives, grapes, figs, pomegranates and rosemary.
